Why do some people get bitten by mosquitoes more frequently than others?

The color is clothing 

As it turns out, mosquitoes closely follow fashion trends and prefer to fly towards people wearing the clothes of a certain color. Of course, with regard to fashion, it was a joke, but these insects are really attracted by people wearing dark clothes. 

Movements 

If you actively move and wave your hands, you don’t keep insects away and, in contrast, intensively attract them. Body heat Mosquitoes pick up even slight difference in body heat and bite the warmest man. It appears that you will draw more attention to your body after physical training. Also, pregnant women and sick people whose temperature is above normal are usually at risk. 

Carbon dioxide 

Mosquitoes can detect the source of carbon dioxide at a distance of 50 meters. For example, pregnant women breathe out 21% more carbon dioxide than other people. Children, on the contrary, will attract these insects not so much, since they exhale less carbon dioxide than adults. 

Alcohol 

For now it’s not clear how mosquitoes determine the existence of alcohol in the air and blood, but it’s enough to drink a bottle of beer in order to earn the attention of these bloodsuckers. 

Skin properties 

Almost 85% of your attractiveness to mosquitoes depends on your skin properties. If the secretions of your skin’s glands contain a large amount of lactic acid or uric acid, be ready for the constant attacks of insects.

If we translate the title of a traffic light go signal from Japanese into English, we’ll get a phrase “blue signal”. But you won’t see blue traffic lights anywhere in the streets of Japanese cities. Why do we say "Hello", picking up the phone?

Now we perceive a telephone as a perfectly ordinary thing and we can talk on it on any subject, but almost always the first word that we pronounce during a phone conversation is “hello”.  Where did it come from and what does it mean?  Back when telephony started to be introduced into our day-to-day life, everybody who used that novelty had to follow strict procedures.
