How does alcohol effect on human DNA?

English scientists determined that acetic aldehyde, which is the byproduct of ethanol fission in the body, can cause permanent damage of DNA. Also, it was shown that cells have two mechanisms which protect them from the ravages of acetaldehyde.

Due to special enzymes the toxin splits out, but if it’s not enough and acetaldehyde, by accumulating, begins to damage DNA, the second mechanism takes effect and recovers DNA thanks to Fanconi anemia proteins. But if there are not enough Fanconi proteins in the body, an organism, including DNA, suffers permanent damage.

The same thing happened when alcohol was tried on pregnant mice. It’s a proof of the fact that drinking is capable of leading to the accumulation of such a large amount of acetaldehyde that it’s enough for the disruption of protection mechanisms.

The data obtained calls for a fresh look at the mechanisms due to which alcohol has a devastating effect on an organism.

That’s why alcohol consumption gives rise to the emergence of red stains on the body or the reddening of the face or increase in temperature.

Once again, this research demonstrates how vulnerable we are to alcohol.
